Some thoughts on the Citizenship Amendment Act

We the people of India, having solemnly resolved to constitute India into a SOVEREIGN SOCIALIST SECULAR DEMOCRATIC REPUBLIC. The unbiased sense of country hood being emphasized in the above statement was meant to be the heart and soul of our nation. It saddens me to see the very shield, designed to protect us, being used as a political weapon. The unrest, the nuisance, the violence, the agitation. All this as a result of misinterpretation of one Act, is worrisome. Considering the CAA, a section of people is slated to be benefitted by this. However, nowhere in the document, the government explicitly states that they would not be allowing Muslim immigrants a chance to claim citizenship, which has become the discussion of the hour. There are five different ways of acquiring Indian citizenship, which can be availed by any individual, be it a Muslim or not. It does not take away the opportunity to apply for citizenship under any of those provisions. There are 28 states which have either ad...

Goldfish - how to keep her alive.

Image
Buying a goldfish - piece of cake, keeping her healthy and sound - totally different story. Goldfish jitni dikhti hai utni sidhi nahi. Things to keep in mind before bringing her home: Tank size matters. Minimum of 15 to 20 litres tank is advisable, so that she gets enough space to roam around. Tank should be clean. Free from any chemicals which could harm her like excess salts, detergent residues etc. Should be covered. Tank should have proper lighting system. A small bulb would suffice. Air pump and water heater are equally important. Many varieties of air pump are available but I used the one with water filtering ability. It sucks the tank water from beneath through a filter so that tiny dust particles (even fish poop) get stuck, and expels from top with force and external air mixed. This also helps in circulating water. Heater should be set around 26 to 28 C. Either of the above should not be turned on outside water. Water - tap water:filtered water = 1:1 If tap water is...

Loneliness

First things first. Loneliness isn't a curse. At par times, people across the globe, have experienced loneliness in one or the other way. Be it willingly or not. Being alone is a part of life. The more you run away from it, the more it scares you. So the remedy you ask - accept it with open hands. With a strong presence of social media everywhere, being lonely scares the hell out of people. To avoid loneliness, people thrive on it. Do everything possible to grab the spotlight and be the talk of the town. There's an unnecessary urge to stay connected. Always. People simply can't digest the food, without liking a 9GAG post, or sharing a selfie.   Being alone gives time to explore yourself. It softly applies the much needed brake and slows you down momentarily. Slowing down is equally necessary as speeding is to win the race. And some time alone, gives just that. It connects you with the physical world. It makes you realize a bunch of stuff which you probably woul...

Inferno

Another Rober Langdon thriller. Not as interesting as A&D and TDVC. Dan Brown tries hard to convience his audience that human race is at the brink of extinction due to overpopulation. For a moment, if you consider it and continue reading, even then it isn't that intriguing. Firstly, it is difficult to grasp that an air borne virus has affected entire human race in just a week. Possible. If you drop, tons of lysate on every country via a B-2. Secondly, why would an organization go to such an extent of faking a gun shot, just to persuade a proffessor to help them aquire a canister which was aquired by Dr. Sinskey, and which was any how to be delivered to the same person eventually after 2 days. (Somehow Indians are bad at long sentences. Pardon me for that. But you gotta appreciate my effort) In my opinion, Digital Fortress & Deception Point were better than this. I'd love to read all his titles again except Inferno. He seemed a bit desperate to engage people in Ro...

World of Tanks

One fine day, after knowing my madness for gaming, one of my friend suggested me to try World of Tanks. At first, it was just another game for me. Tried it for couple of days, but I couldn't manage to kill a single tank. And so as normal human tendency goes, I was frustrated with it in just under 2 hours. Next thing: Shift + Delete. Wasn't that hard. Meanwhile I started getting some good reviews of the game from various online sources. It was being praised from all the people who knew about it. After a couple of months, I was attracted to WOT again. But I didn't have a good internet connection back then. Hardly received 125kbps. And at that rate I decided to download the game. It took me 2 weeks to download 6 GB of data at an average rate of 12 hours/GB. The speed reduced drastically as I surfed other web pages. But finally, after a long wait and a lot of hard work in downloading, I managed to play it. Again it was a nightmare getting used to the controls as I ...

Personality Development Session

Today I attended a personality development session which aimed at improving the GD (Group Discussion) skills by braking down the students into groups and ask them to discuss on topics like "Natural disaster vs Man-made disaster" and "Women Empowerment". I did come across various views on both topics ranging from earthquakes, nuclear attack to Sonia Gandhi and Sheila Dixit. People did have a lot to convey but the only thing which prevented them from putting their point forward was lack of confidence. This I guess was common among majority of the students. The topic doesn't matter more than the level of confidence with which you present the few things you already know. There are many areas which can be improved by attending such discussions like leadership quality, time management, focusing the point, general awareness, etc.  And I got to learn all of that. Indeed a good experience.

Change

Work done by the team of Satyamev Jayate was marvelous. Right from the sheer thought of creating such a fantastic show till the broadcasting of the same has been top of the line. The endurance of the thought of change is the need of the hour. My apology. have been reading british novels lately. And in particular I blame Jeffrey Archer. Good job with "The sins of the father". But 'Change' is what everyone craves for today. Right from the son of an ordinary farmer to a retired army officer. We want change. We don't know how, but we do desire. Just finished with "What young India wants" by Chetan Bhagat. Its the same story retold again and again with different garnishings. But are we really ready to work for a change! We ll, sadly - NO. Let me elaborate with an example. I live in Anand. The milk capital of India. And I'm pursuing Master of Science in Biotechnology at ARIBAS located in Vallabh Vidhyanagar, which is in close vicinity to Anan...
